The year 2024 was a groundbreaking year for hip-hop. Between the iconic beef between Kendrick Lamar & Drake to the independent artists managing to stay afloat amongst chaos, it has been gossip filled and action packed with new generation lyrics. One recording artist soaring high amongst the crowd made some prominent moves this year, making a big move to Houston, TX from the streets of Los Angeles is Tay Morris.
Influenced by the melodical sounds of the legendary Nate Dogg, and a delivery inspired by the late great Tupac, TayMo 2.0 intends to leave his mark in the word via captivating lyrics and moving melodies. Records such as “Angels” and “How We Ride” allowed us a glimpse into the world that shaped him into who he is today. Born Zachary Morris, Tay has opened for acts such as Warren G, & Too Short, attracting attention and sponsorships from independent companies whom believe in the brand. Obtaining a feature with Compton’s Most Wanted (Tha Chill, MC Eiht) also shows that legends who helped shape today’s game support the message and delivery from TayMo.
With several releases under his belt, Tay was able to put together his debut project, “TAKE 2.0: THE RISE” for a January 29th release of this year. Most independents are not product and art focused when creating their first project, but Tay crafted a business model and saw it to completion. This allowed him to pick up a feature from renown recording artists Joey Fatts, formerly of the A$AP MOB. The “GOLDENCHILD” record is Tay’s most popular record to date, which attracted the attention of Heatwave Hotwiches, BEEZN, and Contagious Culture.
